Los Angeles and our house.
Count Done
Tomorrow we're going to relax in LA until our plane leaves at 9:40pm.
I have no idea what today's picture should be. Mostly because I'm too lazy and tired from the travelling.
Maybe I'll post a picture tonight when we're settled.
Until then.

Still Counting Down
Sometimes people are curious about where we're actually going to live. Because of this, today's picture is our house.
It's officially known as The Retro House. I'm guessing this is because of the decor.
When we actually move in I'll post real pictures, well pictures that I actually took.
That's all.

Birthday! [and the Countdown.]
To celebrate we went to Old Chicago last night. He ordered a beer at midnight.
It was a good time! We're going to a fancy schmancy dinner with his family tonight. That will also be a good time, and a nice send off.
So, today's picture...
This is Einstein's. The on-campus bar at Deakin. If we were in Australia right now, we probably would have celebrated there. However, it would be pretty lame because the drinking age in Australia is 18, meaning 21 is definitely not a big deal.
[We'll probably celebrate there anyway.]

Countdown Oops
We'll start with what would have been yesterday's picture.
It's actually two pictures.
Chris and I took these pictures last winter at his family's cabin in Cascade. I picked these because we are saying 'Goodbye!!' to winter [with a capital G]. When we arrive in Melbourne it will be the heart of summer. Ahh.... warm weather. I can't wait. The best part? Even though Australia's fall and winter will be just around the corner, it doesn't get below forty-something in Melbourne. Compared to the teens and twenties that we're getting used to, that is bliss!
Now we can get back to today.
A few weeks after we get settled we have the opportunity to go on a 3 day beach excursion. We'll get to do things like surfing [except for me, the non-swimmer], hiking, and sight seeing around the beautiful Great Ocean Road. That includes visiting The Twelve Apostles and staying in the amazing town of Lorne.
Today's picture - Lorne!
Unreal, huh?
The semi-lame part about this trip is that we will still be in the Pacific Ocean.
But, my guess is that this part of the Pacific is much warmer than the water we're used to.
On a different note, when you google Lorne the first image that comes up is this....
Hilarious? Yes. Australia? No.
Wow, you got tons of pictures today. What lucky ducks.
Until tomorrow!!!
[Hopefully.]

Counting Down
Please ignore the 80's-esque attire.
I mostly chose this picture because today I realized that Chris and I have yet to pack, organize our house, or do anything remotely close to getting ready to leave.
Hopefully our lack of organization will not lead us to look like this, minus two people.
But really, how do you pack for a trip that lasts six months? I mean, really, that's a long time. Not to mention the fact that we will be there for at least two seasons. [If I were going alone, this would be fine. I would pack nothing but my toothbrush. However, Chris is not interested in buying a completely new wardrobe.]
Well, here's to planning. Or organizing. Or something. How about packing? Yes, here's to packing!!

The Final Countdown
For the next seven days I'm going to post a picture of Melbourne, Burwood, Deakin, or whatever strikes my fancy [and relates to our trip, of course].
Today I found a gorgeous picture of the Melbourne skyline.
When I say found, I mean stole [nicandclay.blogspot.com].
I'm not sure if it's the bright blue sky, the modern architecture, or the calm water, but whatever it is.... ahh.
Beautiful, right?
7 more days!!

Blog Time!
That's pretty common knowledge these days, but still a good reason to blog.
The coolest part is that we're leaving on January 28th, exactly a week from tomorrow. We're flying from Boise to Phoenix to Los Angeles and spending the night there. At 9:45p.m. on Saturday we leave LA and arrive in Melbourne early Monday morning. We lose most of Sunday, but who cares about that day anyway?
Chris has never been to California so the plan is to peruse LA and the closest beach on Saturday. We'll see how many hours of wandering around with six months worth of luggage we can handle.
Only 8 more days!
